Southern Spice, Taj Coromandel, Chennai serves a la carte and thali styled meals having many varieties of South Indian cuisine foods.

These are what I had during my visit on 11/11/2023 to one of the best 50 restaurants In India, 2023 as part of their Vegetarian Light Meal.

Rasam: 3/5
Spicy and not bad.

Sanna: 3/5
Sanna is a Karnataka variant of Idli but it didn't feel any different from a regular Idli though!
Kadala Gassi: 3/5
Chickpea curry. Only part of the meal I ate fully.
Idiyappam: 3/5
Veg Kuruma: 2/5
Below average.
Appam: 3/5
Pachakari Ishtew: 2/5
Coconut based vegetable stew. Not so good.
Ghee & Podi : 3.5/5
This wasn't actually part of the light meal I ordered and I don't know why it was served. It tasted great with rice but I couldn't enjoy it as I was already full.
Rice & Sambar: 0/5
It was no longer a light meal anymore. On top of that, this was the worst sambar I ever had till date!

Curd Rice: 1/5
It had added ginger and green chilli, which I personally hate!
Vathal Kozhambu: 3.5/5
Tamil Nadu style curry made with Manathakkali or black nightshade berries. Tangy and great.
Fresh Fruit Platter: 3.5/5
A relief after the gradually dissatisfying heavy meal I had!

They also offered me Kheer/Kaapi ice cream as dessert but I declined as I was really waiting to leave the place as early as possible after the disappointing experience!
Ambiance: 5/5
Only good thing about this place. Classical music and live classical dance performance was cherry on the top! Just fantastic!
Service: 2/5
The staff weren't really attentive while serving food as they were handling multiple tables at once. I had to wait so long for some parts of the meal!
Menu: 3/5
Food: 2/5
Overall Experience: 6/10
Location: Nungambakkam, Chennai
See you soon after my next trip. Cheers!
